THE ROAD BACK HOME...How many roads are there yet to travel until we get back home again?

Nighttime Paris 4
One of the best photos I have viewed that features a moon. The roofs look like they are out of the 1880s, thus the image conveys a passage back into another day--or night. RLH

Kansas
Many people say that Kansas is flat and boring. To me, it is flat, but very interesting. One never knows what is just over the horizon. As a youth, I anxiously waited for the day when I was old enough to drive across Kansas to see the great Rocky Mountains.
I hitch-hiked across Kansas a few time while in the navy. I will never forget the time when I was about two-hundred miles west of Manhattan, Kansas. Five young Kansas coeds gave me a ride. It was almost blizzard conditions. I thanked them time and again as we traveled back to their college, Kansas State. It is one of those memories that has lasted through the years. It was a good deed and one that would most likely not be repeated today. By R.L.Huffstutter

Invention - xii.iii.xi
To those who believe a brush is required to create art, this should shatter such a belief. These masterpieces are digital or electric, both, really, and they are beautiful. http://www.flickr.com/photos/huffstutterrobertl/galleries/72157625815523973

Time Out
One of the favorite photos by one of my favorite west coast photographers, David Kyle Craig. As I look at this image, I do not think of how many summers I might have left, I think of how many summers are past, summers I have enjoyed. Congratulations to David Kyle Craig for a great photograph.

Laguna Beach
If you are planning on going to southern California for a vacation, do not miss Laguna Beach. Yes, the rates are very expensive, but if you will book yourself a beachfront room with balcony, you will not be disappointed. You will have a gull's-eye view of the beach, you will hear the tide rolling and roaring in at night. You will have some great memories. This photo was taken by KWONG YEE CHENG and is a perfect poster for this beautiful beachfront community.

African Mask Side View
The sculpture and its geometrics are fascinating. In my opinion it was a work of art in the mind of the sculptor before the work began. While there were no blueprints to follow, the artist followed the art from his heart to his mind to his hands.
UNTIL SEEING THIS PHOTOGRAPH of an African mask, I have not given much thought to the subject.
However, the near three-dimensional view Ras Marley captured in shooting this mask has given me a new perspective on the subject and has created an interest that will further my knowledge and education about the world I am living in and have lived in for the past 70 years. By RLH Editor

African Mask Side View
COUNTRY: UNKNOWN
MATERIALS: WOOD
HEIGHT: 12 in.
I don't know which African country this mask comes from. I bought it because I liked the smile. I will not pay as much for a mask of unknown origin as masks I'm familiar with from the literature

Smoked Sausage
Hot dogs, sausage dogs, whatever, if it looks like this, it is called a hot dog by all but the very discriminating.
One must be careful, however, when this product is sold along the boardwalks to make a statement about the contents: pork, turkey, beef, chicken, or a combination.
Even on the midways of America, there are rules that must be followed. You have shot a photo of one of America's most beloved foods. You should get a good review in the GOURMET'S HALL OF FAME.

San Diego Train Station
THIS PHOTO makes me think of many happy days that became years. How I loved traveling on the trains before Amtrak took over.
As a former USN guy, I saw this mosaic many times. Now, the old USNTC is gone. No longer do thousands of sailors come and go they way they once did.
Thanks for capturing this great reminder of another time and place. Text by RLH, blog editor
