African Mask Side View

African Mask Side View by RasMarley

The sculpture and its geometrics are fascinating. In my opinion it was a work of art in the mind of the sculptor before the work began. While there were no blueprints to follow, the artist followed the art from his heart to his mind to his hands.

UNTIL SEEING THIS PHOTOGRAPH of an African mask, I have not given much thought to the subject.

However, the near three-dimensional view Ras Marley captured in shooting this mask has given me a new perspective on the subject and has created an interest that will further my knowledge and education about the world I am living in and have lived in for the past 70 years. By RLH Editor

COUNTRY: UNKNOWN
MATERIALS: WOOD
HEIGHT: 12 in.

I don't know which African country this mask comes from. I bought it because I liked the smile. I will not pay as much for a mask of unknown origin as masks I'm familiar with from the literature
