The essence of watercolor. What a masterpiece. Your reflections are marvelous, stunning and impressive.

There is a glory in a clear grey sky that must be seen at length to be appreciated. Editor

IMPRESSIVE work. Perfect balance of space and contrast.

BRUNELLESCHI's style is reminescent of masterpieces by some of the paintings by artists of Monmartre in the last half of the 19th century.

Stalag 344 Blower

Stalag 344 Blower
This was device "kriegies" used to heat water quickly and efficiently in German Prisoner of War camps. My father described it to me and I tried to represent it in a drawing. The Klim tin on the left containes propellor like fins which fit snogly and can be turned by the handle on the front. This creates a draught by sucking sucking air from the aperture on the left and jetting it through the square tube connecting it to the burner. In the burner were twigs, leaves, cardboard and wood shavings which, fanned by the air, burned very hotly and could boil a dixie of water in seconds. Text by Tram Painter

Since when has the NATIONAL PARK SERVICE been given the power to regulate OUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH and who authorized such unconstitutional actions. If we do not stop this type of SOCIALISM we will lose many other freedoms

First Amendment Area" (only near the toilet)
Apparently now you can only exercise your first amendment rights in designated areas - as if the constitution is no longer applied to all places in the US!!! The "First Amendment Area" at Muir Woods National Park, is NEXT TO THE TOILETS. The sign says "This area has been set aside for individuals or groups exercising their constitutional first amendment rights. The National Park Service neither encourages nor discourages, or otherwise endorses these activities, and receives no funds in relation to these activities."

Howard on 8th birthday, Hazard, Ky

A GLANCE AT AMERICA ON THE EVE OF WORLD WAE TWO. TEXT BY HOWARD 33

Howard on 8th birthday, Hazard, Ky
I turned 8 years-old in the summer of 1941. We lived in Hazard, a town of about 8,000 people in the mountains of eastern Kentucky. I was never one to worry about the funture, which was about to change. Less than four months after this picture was made, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.

My two sisters and I were in the living room with the Sunday funnies, and our mother was listening to the radio in the kitchen. She eased into the room and said "Japan has bombed Pearl Harbor. I think we are in another war."

My first question was to ask where Pearl Harbor was. She dragged out a world map from somewhere and pointed out the Hawaiian Islands. She said that Pearl Harbor was a Navy base near Honolulu. She and our father spent the rest of the day in the kitchen listening to the radio. I caught a few facts about the sinking of several of our large ships, and the bombing of a nearby airfield, but when President Roosevelt began to speak, we all sat around the table and listened to every word.

The news has caused this scene to flash through my mind a number of times since then, and I can almost hear my mother's voice saying, "I think we are in another war."

TIME TO MAKE IRAN A NON-NUCLEAR POWER
Are we morons? Iran has warned us, threatened us time and again, so are we going to wait until they nuke us? Let's take the nukes away from this demonic regime before it is too late.
