New York Rangers Forever... Saint Joan of Arc Forever!

New York Rangers Forever... Saint Joan of Arc Forever!
HD Wallpaper.

That may look like the Statue of Liberty, but I most decidedly prefer to think of it as our Patron Saint Joan of Arc...

Ice hockey is not my passion, but New York Rangers hockey comes very close to it. When the Rangers scored a crucial go-ahead goal in the Stanley Cup Play-offs, the other night, I cried openly. No I'm not proud of that, but when the New York Rangers are competing for the Stanley Cup I feel alive, so alive that my soul tingles... like somebody "up there" understands. When the Rangers aren't playing, hockey is about as interesting as a "boob job"...

This is not an advertisement for the New York Rangers hockey club --- As a Christian, I post this with nothing but unconditional respect for Saint Joan and everything she believed in... because it's what I believe in (as a Christian and a Rangers fan).

Hopes and prayers, always.

VE DAY TORONTO CANADA., a photo by reidbrand on Flickr.

This photo gave me chills. Those women, welcoming their men back from a war which did not touch Canada, but whose men went to help their Commonwealth and North American Allies.
The Bible teaches: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friend.
God Bless Canada.

Thanks for posting this, from a thankful Australian to a Commonwealth brother.

SOUTH BAY SCENE, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

This is my memory of Manhattan Beach when I first viewed this beautiful little town in the South Bay area of the California coast west of Los Angeles.

One of Manhattan Beach's most unique geographical feature is the panoramic view one enjoys atop the hill when one first sees the vast Pacific and its horizon. It was my first view of the Pacific and remains vivid in my mind even after more than 50 years. I first saw Manhattan Beach in the summer of 1959.

A GREAT ILLUSTRATION FROM MY FLICKR FREIND, GRAHAM LEES

Missy is a Staffordshire Terrier-Bull Mastiff cross. She belongs to my nephew's friend in New Zealand.Graham Lees

One wonders what she is thinking about.

You have created a masterpiece in that few artists are able to illustrate believable expressions on the faces of dogs. Missy's expression takes one's mind off to a horizon where canine dreams must surely exist. Fine work.RLH, Editor

Big Hotel

Big Hotel by Missiz Beasley

I love hotels, as it almost always is a holiday of some sort. I just liked the 50's feel to this one and a view that is seen and has been seen a million times. By Missiz Beasley

THE ANNUAL HOTEL WINDOW AWARD GOES TO MISSIZ BEASLEY. Earl R.Stonebridge added what he thought would be the beginning of another great novel after viewing this classic black and white photograph. In Earl's words:

You and me both. We would not have been sleepy in Seattle with a view like this, a seedy lobby, a neon sign buzzing outside the window, the sound of taxis honking, the laughter of the people on the street below, the feel of youthful energy in a world frozen in the 60s/70s about to melt and explode into real time.

Oh', the smell of beer still wafting out of open-doored bars, the aroma of coffee just as the sun rises and wakes a city of mostly sleeping people.

2011 Rabbit Year / Usagi Toshi

The Chinese Year of the Rabbit ( 兔 ) is actually the Chinese Year of the Hare, as China has seven native species of hares and no native species of rabbits. The Chinese applied their word for hare to the first rabbits to be taken to China, and the word is now erronously back-translated into English as "rabbit". The hare is the fourth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. The Year of the Hare is associated with the earthly branch symbol 卯.

tranvia grafito lisboa

When I was a young boy, I recall riding on a few trolly cars because of the sparks and noises they made. Later, in the 60s, I rode the trollies of Yokohama. As I view the trolly by Abraham Rodriquez, I am fondly reminded of those early memories. There is a style in Rodriquez's that is unique; it is a warm and friendly style that wakes up one's subconscience memories. While I have never been to Lisbon, I can imagine what a lovely city it must be. By Editor, RLH

manhattan pier

manhattan pier by skschang
manhattan pier, a photo by skschang on Flickr.

This is one of my favorite works of art by one of my favorite artists. Having studied impressionism for many of my 70 years, I have seen many paintings. This is one of the best I have seen; this is one that has the style I like, the style I would pick if I had a choice of choosing a personal style. But style is individual and belongs exclusively to the artist who painted the work. This is the difference between art and favorite art.

A SHORT ESSAY ABOUT MANHATTAN PIER

Some might ask why I mention how a work affects me personally when I comment on gallery items and that is a valid question and one that deserves a valid answer.

Manhattan Pier exists both on the surface of SKYCHANG's watercolor surface and bespeaks the work of a master watercolorist; it speaks volumes about the art of watercolor to those who love and appreciate this medium.

As one who truly loves watercolors and Manhattan Beach, it is extra special to me. Thus, my mention that my 17th summer was spent in the shadows and in the warm Pacific sunlight around and about this pier, this legendary landmark, warms my heart, restores my youthful dreams and expectations and it is very special to me personally.

It is, however, a terrific watercolor. So, in a nutshell, a mini-essay about SKSCHANG's works and my youthful summer many, many years ago.

Thanks for letting me exhibit your work.

Ornate Seat

Ornate Seat by Tram Painter
Ornate Seat, a photo by Tram Painter on Flickr.

Great photo of an artist's contribution to society. I would imagine the artist has a longing for the past and is totally comfortable relaxing on a red velvet sofa of a Victorian style. In a nutshell (from one nut to another), I like this and hope to see people seated in various poses sometime, smiling. One would assume this is a bench that keeps bottoms busy being seated and photographed. Good capture, my friend
